Meek Mill Partners With DAZN For Doc On Anthony Joshua Fight

Meek Mill and Jay-Z’ Roc Nation are partnering with DAZN on a documentary "about heavyweight fighters Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr.," according to Marisa Guthrie of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. "40 Days: Joshua-Ruiz" will be "presented as multi-part short-form episodes and premiere May 21 on Mill’s Instagram and YouTube channel." Episodes will "debut each Tuesday and Thursday" in the two weeks leading up to the June 1 fight. A special final edition of "40 Days" will premiere on NBCSN and several RSNs prior to the showdown. The "40 Days" doc franchise "kicked off earlier this month" with a LeBron James-Maverick Carter-produced doc about the Canelo Alvarez-Daniel Jacobs fight on May 4 (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 5/10). In L.A., Lance Pugmire reports Joshua has "set up his training camp in Miami," and Mill’s interaction with the fighter is "expected to be shown in the first of four '40 Days' episodes." Mill will "flex his massive social-media appeal to assist the fuller introduction" of the U.K.-born Joshua to the U.S. Mill has 6.4 million Instagram followers and "more than seven million on Twitter." The "genuine interest in striking a sincere connection with America’s urban audience could prove powerful for Joshua, a proven mainstream draw in the U.K." (LATIMES.com, 5/10).
