FC Cincinnati Looking At Adding Beer Hall To New Stadium

FC Cincinnati President & GM Jeff Berding said that the club's new stadium "could include a beer hall," according to Sharon Coolidge of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. The beer hall is "part of a discussion about how to make sure the stadium is used all year, not just during the 17 home games each season." Berding said the club is "discussing a brewing partner, or something representative of our beer heritage to be a part of the plan." He added that the idea would be to possibly "put it on the plaza so that it opens into the stadium on game days, and toward the community on non game days." Berding said that the beer hall would be "open during away games for fans to watch the game on television." Coolidge noted it is still "early in talks" and there there are "no renderings" of what it may look like (CINCINNATI.com, 4/30).

NOT ALL ON BOARD: In Cincinnati, Chris Wetterich notes FC Cincinnati and the residents of three West End buildings acquired by the club "have yet to reach a deal on their status." Residents have "urged the Cincinnati City Council to reject an amendment needed to the stadium's concept plan" which would incorporate "two, short spurs of public streets that lead into the stadium site." Residents' group Fight Back Cincinnati: Wade Street & Central Avenue Tenants United urged the city council "not to approve the amendment until their situation was resolved" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/1).
