After Cabrera "fired and sued his former business partners, they responded last week with a suit of their own." Cabrera accused DANIEL SATINE and YAJAIRA GONZALEZ of "arranging costly sponsorship deals" with the Tigers and Dolphins. Cabrera's Miggy Foods said that it lost $2.1M on the candy investment (MLIVE.com, 4/16).
SAFE FOR NOW: Nike's BOD has "dodged a multimillion-dollar lawsuit in Oregon state court over gender discrimination in the company’s ranks -- at least for now." An Oregon Circuit Court judge on Monday "granted the Nike directors’ motion to dismiss a suit by a group of shareholders, who accused the directors of enabling a toxic corporate culture they claimed demeaned and hindered female employees."
