Bucks Ride Successful Season To All-Time High Merchandise Sales

Antetokounmpo had the fourth highest-selling jersey in the NBA between October '18 and February '19bucks

The Bucks' "success on the court this season has had a significant effect on the team's merchandise sales," which are at "all-time highs for the franchise," according to Nick Williams of the MILWAUKEE BUSINESS JOURNAL. Bucks F Giannis Antetokounmpo had the "fourth highest-selling jersey of any player in the NBA" between October '18 and February '19. The Bucks drew a crowd of 17,529 for their Game 1 win over the Pistons on Sunday, and President Peter Feigin is "expecting sold-out games throughout the playoffs." This season, the Bucks averaged 17,602 fans per game, an increase of 5.3% over the '17-18 season average of 16,715. Bucks and city officials also "unveiled Friday one of Milwaukee's The Hop streetcars" branded in the team's colors, which "features player action shots, a replica court on the floor and life-size player footprints." Feigin said that Bucks fans can "expect more celebrations across the city" during the NBA Playoffs. Feigin: "This is a window in time to really have a fun time and promote and market the Bucks brand like it's never been marketed before" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/15).

BUILDING A TEAM: The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Laine Higgins profiled Feigin as part of the paper's "Personal Board Of Directors" feature and noted since arriving in Milwaukee, Feigin has overseen "construction of a new arena downtown with materials sourced 90% from Wisconsin." He also "approached the 51-year-old franchise 'like a startup' and built a culture of collaboration by asking his 330 full-time and 1,000 part-time employees, 'How can you have empathy, how can you collaborate, how can you be a great teammate?'" Feigin has relied on "four trusted advisers," including Barbara Feigin -- his mother and former Grey Advertising Dir of Strategic Services -- Antetokounmpo, former team Owner Herb Kohl and director and producer Malcolm Lee (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 4/13).
