TCU's Stadium Expansion Won't Be Ready For Start Of Football Season

TCU is targeting a mid-October completion date, in time for the Oct. 26 game against TexasJEREMIAH DONATI

TCU’s $100M premium seating expansion of Amon G. Carter Stadium’s east side "won’t be ready by the start of next football season," according to Drew Davison of the Ft. Worth STAR-TELEGRAM. TCU is "targeting a mid-October completion date," in time for the Oct. 26 game against Texas. TCU opens its season at home on Aug. 31 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and has additional home games scheduled against SMU (Sept. 21) and Kansas (Sept. 28). TCU AD Jeremiah Donati "blamed the 'historic bad weather' this fall" when the Dallas-Ft. Worth area "received a record amount of rainfall." The expansion project delay "affects about 2,000 fans." Donati said that the school’s ticket office has "developed solutions for all fans who may be affected by the delay." Davison noted the new video board above the north end zone grandstands will be "installed by the first game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff." (Ft. Worth STAR-TELEGRAM, 4/12). In Dallas, Dean Straka noted the east-side expansion will see the "addition of luxury seating above the current grandstands, including 48 loges boxes, two private clubs, 22 luxury suites, and 1,000 seats." The project will "bring Amon G. Carter Stadium's official capacity to 47,000 once complete" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 4/13).
