Chiefs' Mahomes Signs Sponsorship With Grocery Chain Hy-Vee
Iowa-based grocery chain Hy-Vee signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, which will "include commercials, in-store advertising, apparel and exclusive product branding," according to Linh Ta of the DES MOINES REGISTER. Hy-Vee has "had a sponsorship with the Chiefs" since '09, and the partnership with Mahomes will "benefit his foundation, No. 15 & The Mahomies." The grocer is not releasing details yet about the "exclusive products they're selling with Mahomes," though fans can "expect to see him on an iconic grocery product: cereal." Mahomes fans can also "access clothing from his online store at select Hy-Vee stores," including markets in Des Moines, Omaha and K.C. Hy-Vee will also start airing commercials starring Mahomes during the NFL preseason (DES MOINES REGISTER, 4/10). In K.C., Pete Grathoff noted Mahomes was in Des Moines yesterday as the "headline speaker at Hy-Vee's 'Exercising Your Character' event, which is aimed at keeping grade-school kids active." Mahomes' agent, Leigh Steinberg, said that among the products being planned between the QB and the grocer is a cereal which will be called "Mahomes Magic Crunch" (KANSASCITY.com, 4/9). Mahomes on Monday signed a deal with Essentia water (KANSASCITY.com, 4/9).
