FS1 To Debut Weekly WWE-Based Studio Show This Fall

FS1 beginning this fall will air a "weekly WWE studio show on Tuesday nights" that will discuss "everything going on in the WWE universe," according to FS1's Jenna Wolfe. FS1's Nick Wright notes a TV show based around WWE has "never really existed anywhere" and that pro wrestling has "never had this type of professional official analysis on a weekly basis." No name or time slot for the show was announced, but it will debut as "SmackDown Live" moves from USA Network to Fox' Friday night primetime lineup in October. WWE Exec VP/Talent, Live Events & Creative Paul "Triple H" Levesque said the show is "something I have wanted to happen for a long time." He said, "It's an analyst show where you’re talking about the athletic component of it. It's also an entertainment show where you’re talking about where things are going and the storylines and characters and all of it" ("First Things First," FS1, 4/5). THE BIG LEAD's Bobby Burack notes WWE's relationship with Fox "projects to do wonders for the WWE's brand," and having a weekly studio show "on linear television will also be a big boost to the company's notoriety in the mainstream conversation" (THEBIGLEAD.com, 4/5).

STICKING TO THE SCRIPT? SI.com's Jimmy Traina wondered if the FS1 show "will be legit or not." Traina: "If it covers things like the John Oliver segment [on his recent HBO show], it could be good. If they ignore things like that, it will just be a total waste of time" (TWITTER.com, 4/5).
