Former Islanders co-Owner STEPHEN WALSH is "trying to get a break" from his 20-year prison sentence for fraud by "claiming his previous lawyer should have challenged the judge who jailed him based on mental issues from the aftereffects" of a stroke. Walsh' lawyers said former U.S. District Judge MIRIAM CEDARBAUM was "out for eight months" before Walsh's sentencing in '14. The new filing said that Walsh's lawyers "believed Cedarbaum was 'cognitively impaired' but sat on their hands" (NEWSDAY, 4/4).

NAMES: San Diego-based biopharmaceutical company Sorrento Therapeutics is accusing L.A. Times Owner and Lakers investor DR. PATRICK SOON-SHIONG of "orchestrating a 'catch and kill' plan that ultimately prevented the release of a promising cancer drug" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 4/4)....The MLB Cardinals and Park Central Development yesterday dedicated the honorary “Bob Gibson Way” during a ceremony in St. Louis’ Grove Neighborhood (Cardinals)....KELLY STAFFORD, wife of Lions QB MATTHEW STAFFORD, is “planning to undergo surgery” for a benign brain tumor resting on her cranial nerves (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 4/4).
