Clear, the Mets and MLB last season ran a pilot program along with Tickets.com CLEAR
Biometrics firm Clear is adding more MLB ballparks to its list of venues, as new entry lanes for members will be available at Camden Yards, Globe Life Park and Target Field. The Orioles will debut the technology from Clear, which is best known for the first biometric fast lanes at TSA airport checkpoints, at their home opener today; both the Rangers and Twins opened the season at home last week. Meanwhile, Rangers fans, as well as attendees at Citi Field and Comerica Park, will be able to start using biometric tickets to enter those ballparks instead of paper or digital tickets. This comes after a pilot project last season between Clear, the Mets, MLB and Tickets.com. Clear membership is free for fans to sign up for at the parks; airport travelers pay a $179 annual membership fee. Members provide identification and scan their fingerprints into Clear’s system. They can then use their fingerprint scan to expedite entry into participating stadiums and arenas. Clear’s technology is now in use at 11 MLB ballparks. Fans at T-Mobile Park and CenturyLink Field can use Clear to verify their age and buy alcoholic beverage and concessions. The company expects to grow that business segment.
