Levy, which has operated concessions for the Univ. of Wisconsin athletic department since '13, has "taken over the program's entire food and beverage operation," according to Todd Milewski of the WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL. Levy signed a five-year contract to continue "managing concessions operations" for UW sports facilities and "add responsibilities for catering and team meals." Until now, the school had "run its own catering business to feed student-athletes and to serve food and drinks in premium seating areas." A bidding process "yielded two qualified contenders for the contract," Levy and Sodexo. UW's BOR "approved the contract" with Levy on March 25, and "went into effect on Monday." Levy's bid included a "projected commission" to UW of $19.1M over the initial five-year deal. It also included $750,000 in "capital improvements to UW facilities, plus $100,000 per year for each year beyond the fifth that the contract is extended." UW will pay Levy for "team meals" at cost plus 5%, with a yearly budget of $1.5M. UW Senior Associate AD/External Relations Justin Doherty said that putting the entire package with one vendor was a "move to synergize service and products throughout" (WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL, 4/4).
