Franchise Notes

In Detroit, Tony Paul reports tickets "still remain for the Tigers' home opener," set for tomorrow at 1:00pm ET against the Royals. The Tigers are "calling it an 'extremely limited' number of seats," though the team "doesn't have an exact number." Tigers VP/Communications Ron Colangelo said, "Comerica Park will no doubt be sold out for Opening Day, as it has been for the last (19) years." Paul notes Tigers tickets on the secondary markets are "going for less than in previous years" (DETROIT NEWS, 4/3).

SLOW START: In Austin, Kirk Bohls notes the Crew "hasn't exactly been selling out" Mapfre Stadium so far this season. The Crew has "played before an average of just 12,864 fans in its first three games, ranking 18th of the 21 MLS teams," though its last home game against Atlanta United was "played in a downpour at times" (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 4/3).

ADDING TO HIS PORTFOLIO? Former NBAer Charles Oakley last week during a pilot The Ringer filmed called "Tough Chef With Charles Oakley," said that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is "interested in buying" the Knicks. Oakley said, "I heard that. Jeff Bezos wants to buy the Knicks." In N.Y., Ted Holmlund notes it is unclear whether Oakley "really has inside information or is just speculating" (N.Y. POST, 4/3).
