Forty Under 40 At 20: HOFer Bea Perez Looks Back

Sports Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 program turns 20 this year. In addition to honoring a new class of sports business executives under the age of 40, we asked past honorees for their thoughts and memories from when they were named to the list and featured a directory of past Forty Under 40 classes. Here, Coca-Cola Senior VP and Chief Communications, Public Affairs, Sustainability & Marketing Assets Officer BEA PEREZ, a Forty Under 40 HOFer after being selected in '01, '02 and '03, shares her memories and the impact the program has had for honorees.

What do you remember most about being named to Forty Under 40?
I remember feeling honored to be part of this incredible network of sports, marketing and business leaders who are transforming the sports landscape. The program helped me establish a new network and personal connections that continue to help me today. Most importantly, I have enjoyed the lifelong friendships that were made possible through this program.

What impact did it have on your career?
The Forty Under 40 program had a tremendous impact. It helped me feel that my work was valued at Coca-Cola, and more broadly throughout the industry. The program also helped me establish connections with sports, marketing and business leaders who have mentored me and supported me throughout my career.

What does being selected for Forty Under 40 mean for professional development of young executives?
The Forty Under 40 program helps young executives better understand their impact, and creates connections that last a lifetime. We also are able to learn best practices and develop an instant network of peers to which we can turn for advice and partnership.

Are there any other thoughts/memories about Forty Under 40 that you would like to share?
