Owners Staying Mum On Robert Kraft At NFL's Spring Meetings

Kraft has not been removed from any of his NFL committees or responsibilitiesGETTY IMAGES

Patriots Owner Robert Kraft has been "spotted in between meetings" at the NFL spring meetings in Phoenix this week and has not spoken to the media, and other owners are also "staying mum" on his legal issues, according to Kevin Duffy of the BOSTON HERALD. Giants President & CEO John Mara "declined comment through a spokesperson" yesterday, and also "did not comment" when speaking to the N.Y. media Sunday. Mara: "What good could possibly come out of commenting on that?" (BOSTON HERALD, 3/26). Asked about Kraft's situation, Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones said, "I really have no comment about that." In Boston, Ben Volin notes the NFL and the 32 owners "have a lot of business to conduct this week," but dealing with Kraft's legal woes "doesn't appear to be one of them." Kraft is "hiding out in conference rooms and staying out of the public areas of the property." Otherwise, it is "business as usual, as Kraft has not been removed from any of his committees or responsibilities." It seems now that the "furor over Kraft's alleged misdeeds" has "died down." No women's groups or protesters "showed up at the owners meeting," and TMZ "isn't here chronicling Kraft's every move" (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/26). In DC, Mark Maske noted Kraft on Sunday was "seen walking with his son," Patriots President Jonathan Kraft, and "speaking to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell between sets of closed-door meetings" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 3/25).
