Mike Francesa Tells Entercom He Is Open To Adding Partner To Show

Mike Francesa has informed WFAN's parent company, Entercom, that he would be "open to adding someone to his afternoon drive time program," according to Neil Best of NEWSDAY. The longtime radio host on Saturday tweeted it was his "idea" and added, "Nothing can be done in that area without my approval, and NOTHING has been done." Francesa: "The 'Mike'sOn' app and its business relationships are important and must be considered." He wrote in a second tweet, "This needs to be decided quickly. ... Would like to have it all done before the first Mets losing streak" (NEWSDAY, 3/24). In N.Y., Andrew Marchand noted Francesa in his tweets "essentially confirmed" a story from last week about how WFAN "tried to hire Adam Schein to partner with him before eventually taking over his slot." Francesa indicated that he would "consider 'adding another person' to his show, but that he may leave soon because he hasn't signed his WFAN contract." Meanwhile, bringing Francesa's former partner, Chris Russo, back to WFAN is "not happening." Sources said that Russo is "closing in on a new deal with SiriusXM." Sources added that Francesa could bring on John Jastremski, as Francesa has "looked at him as a protégé" (N.Y. POST, 3/24). Sources said that in addition to Schein, WFAN has "also met with ESPN's Max Kellerman." WFAN VP/Programming Mark Chernoff in a statement said, "We are 100% committed to Mike Francesa, who is the #1 Sports Radio talk show host in afternoon drive. There is absolutely no truth to any reports about Adam Schein joining WFAN" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 3/24).
