People & Personalities: Pitt's Jeff Capel Joining NCAA Coverage

In Pittsburgh, Jerry DiPaola noted Pitt men's basketball coach Jeff Capel will be a "guest studio analyst for CBS Sports and Turner Sports during their coverage" of the NCAA Tournament's first-round games today and tomorrow. He will "join the Atlanta studio team of host Casey Stern and analysts Brendan Haywood, Candace Parker and Seth Davis" (TRIBLIVE.com, 3/20). 

AROUND THE HORN: Former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen will be a "studio analyst on NBC Sports Chicago's Sox pregame and postgame shows this season." This role will be in "addition to the work Guillen began last season as a contributor to the channel's 'Baseball Night in Chicago.'" For the last seven years, Guillen also has been a "regular contributor to WSCR-AM" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 3/21).

NEW BEGINNINGS: Danica Patrick serving as an analyst for NBC's broadcast of the Indianapolis 500 will be an "interlude to her post-racing career." Patrick is now "able to look over her 'Warrior' clothing line and her Somnium wine." She has also been a host of the ESPYs. This "won't be the first time Patrick has served in an analyst role for a race." She "did the same for some Xfinity Series race broadcasts in the last few years of her NASCAR career" (NBCSPORTS.com, 3/20).

NOTES: FS West announced that Will Ferrell will play his "Anchorman" character Ron Burgundy tonight on the Sharks-Kings broadcast (SI.com, 3/20)....Chicago-based WSCR-AM sports talk host Laurence Holmes is "moving up to a new afternoon shift." He will "host solo" from 12:00-2:00pm CT Monday-Friday. He will also "host a daily podcast for Radio.com" to be posted after 2:00pm (Chicago DAILY HERALD, 3/21).
