Wizdom, the Wizards’ dance team consisting of members who are "all 50 and older," has been "such a success that the Wizards will hold tryouts again this fall," according to Marisa Iati of the WASHINGTON POST. The dance group, created by the Wizards last offseason amid a "revamp of their arena and an expansion" of in-game entertainment, has 20 members ages 50-76. Wizdom Dir Derric Whitfield said, "The fans really get behind them, and it’s an instant support that they get because they’re older." Dancers are "paid by the hour, with help from a sponsorship from AARP." At least a dozen other NBA teams, including the Bulls and Warriors, also have "dance teams for older adults" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 3/18).
