Angels Look To Possibly Develop Land Around Home Ballpark

Angel Stadium's parking areas could become a mix of hotels, restaurants and other entertainmentGETTY IMAGES

The Angels have brought on real estate consultant Brooks Street to "look at potential options for development of the land around Angel Stadium," as the team and the city of Anaheim "discuss a lease deal" to keep the team there, according to Robinson & McRea of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER. Development rights for the ballpark's parking areas, which "could become a mix of restaurants, entertainment and hotels, could be a selling point." Angels spokesperson Marie Garvey said that the team's move is a "positive step, showing they are serious about the discussions." Anaheim City Council members are "getting monthly updates on how discussions with the team are going." The next update, on Tuesday, will "include that the city was informed about the consultant by the team." Talks between Anaheim and the Angels "seem to have smoothed out under new Mayor Harry Sidhu, after grinding to a halt in recent years" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 3/15).
