JACK NICKLAUS and his wife, BARBARA, are assisting in a "charitable drive that will involve the global golf community," according to Steve DiMeglio of GOLFWEEK.com. The Play Yellow campaign aims to raise $100M in the "next five years for children’s hospitals." The Nicklaus family has "long supported Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which have been reliant on donations to fund pediatric care for millions of children." Nicklaus’ Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, has "benefited Nationwide Children’s Hospital and other charities since its inception" in '76. When the Honda Classic moved to Palm Beach County, Jack and Barbara "created the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation" in '04 (GOLFWEEK.com, 3/13).

FUNDING FROM DC: POLITICO's Dan Diamond noted under PRESIDENT TRUMP's fiscal '20 budget proposal released Monday, Health & Human Services would steer $20M "toward a mobile children's hospital project at Miami's Nicklaus Children's Hospital." Sources said that Nicklaus had "lobbied Trump on the golf course in Florida," and he met with HHS Secretary ALEX AZAR and Office of Management & Budget Dir MICK MULVANEY in DC, to "request funds." A source said that Trump personally directed HHS to "earmark the funds." Nicklaus has lobbied some lawmakers, such as U.S. Reps. MICHAEL BURGESS (R-Texas) and GUS BILIRAKIS (R-Fla.), about "funding the mobile hospital pilot" (POLITICO.com, 3/11).
