MLB Media Notes: Harper's Debut Earns Record Local Ratings

Blue Jays-Phillies on Saturday -- Bryce Harper’s first game with the Phillies -- earned a 2.9 rating on NBC Sports Philadelphia, up 311% over this year’s Spring Training average. NBCSP was the No. 1 network in the market, and it was the highest-rated Phillies Spring Training game since '12. The game peaked with a 4.0 rating when Harper took his first at-bat. The game delivered 13.5K uniques and 546,000 live stream minutes, making it the most-streamed Phillies Spring Training game ever (NBC Sports Philadelphia). MLB Network drew 148,000 viewers for Harper’s debut with the Phillies (Austin Karp, THE DAILY).

BACK IN ACTION: NESN's Jerry Remy "made his first appearance" at Red Sox Spring Training yesterday, and is scheduled to make his '19 debut in the booth for Red Sox-Yankees on Friday. Remy said that he was "feeling fine" and he "looked terrific" after numerous cancer relapses. Remy was "working on a book" with Nick Cafardo before his sudden death last month. Remy said that he is "still hoping to get the book out this summer" (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/13).

GETTING IT RIGHT: The Cubs announced plans to "revise the captions to videos" on the team's YouTube channel after a complaint on behalf of deaf viewers. Triple-A PCL Iowa Cubs photographer Dylan Heuer on Monday "tweeted his praise for the team’s new channel," but he "asked the team to add captions for deaf viewers." The National Association of the Deaf said that "auto-generated captions -- on all websites -- are often full of errors, sometimes unintelligible and generally don’t meet standards mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 3/12).
