Yankees' Clint Frazier Dumps Adidas In Favor Of Footwear Freedom

During Spring Training, Frazier has been wearing a pair of black and grey classic Jordans fitted with spikesGETTY IMAGES

Yankees LF Clint Frazier "dropped Adidas as a sponsor" last month because he wanted the "freedom to wear whatever type of sneaker-turned-cleats he wants," according to Lindsey Adler of THE ATHLETIC. Frazier, a once-hyped prospect who has played just 54 career games at the MLB level, bought two pair of "black and grey classic Jordans" for use this season. One pair he has been wearing during batting practice at Spring Training, while he sent the other off to be "fitted out with spikes so he could wear them in game action." Frazier has been "looking at a pair of black and white Jordan 5s, but he particularly dreams of wearing streetwear brand Off-White x Air Jordan 1s on the field." The modified Jordans "fit the club dress code," as well as Frazier's personal dress code, a "form of streetwear lite." He said, "I've always liked fashion but I never knew how to express myself the right way. ... Once I finally turned a corner on not really caring how people view me is when I started to get a little more comfortable with the things I wanted to wear" (THEATHLETIC.com, 3/12).
