Chicago Suburb Hopes To Reap Benefits Of SeatGeek Stadium Deal

The city of Bridgeview, Ill., hopes to "bring more concerts and other live events" to SeatGeek Stadium paired with the venue's new naming-rights agreement and management firm, according to a front-page piece by Mike Nolan of the Chicago DAILY SOUTHTOWN. Bridgeview Mayor Steven Landek said the Chicago suburb is "trying to broaden our spectrum" of events at the former Toyota Park. SeatGeek was announced as the new naming-rights holder last year, and Bridgeview officials "took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with officials" from SeatGeek, the Fire and the NWSL Chicago Red Stars on Thursday. Bridgeview, SeatGeek and stadium operator Spectra Venue Management will "work in tandem to bring other events, including music and sports, to the 28,000-seat facility." One such event coming in June is Nitro Circus, which features freestyle motocross riders. The stadium's previous name, Toyota Park, had "outlasted the previous 10-year naming rights deal Bridgeview had, which reaped" a reported $7.5M for the town. Landek said that the terms of the deal with SeatGeek are "more favorable to Bridgeview than the prior naming rights agreement" with Toyota (Chicago DAILY SOUTHTOWN, 3/8).
