Mavs' Mark Cuban Says Story On Presidential Run "Way Overblown"

Cuban said that there is "no story" and "nothing to talk about" regarding a presidential runNBAE/GETTY IMAGES

Mavericks Owner MARK CUBAN said his comments about a potential Presidential run have been "way overblown," claiming he and the reporter who asked him about it were "just talking politics," according to Loyd Brumfield of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Cuban said, "He asked me if I would run. I said I wouldn't rule it out, but the stars would have to align perfectly. So I don't see it happening. Of course, that wasn't the headline." Cuban said there is "no story here" right now and "nothing to talk about at this time." Brumfield noted Cuban has "pondered running" for President before. If he decided to, Cuban "certainly realizes he would face questions about how he and the Mavericks handled a sexual harassment scandal that erupted about this time last year" (DALLASNEWS.com, 3/5). USA TODAY's Nancy Armour writes Cuban "seems to think he could be a viable candidate," despite "no political experience, no specific platform or ideas." Armour: "He's got no business running." Running a business "doesn’t mean you can run the country." Starring on a popular TV show like "Shark Tank" "isn’t an actual job qualification." There is a "difference between the ego needed to run for national office and the arrogance that makes you think you should" (USA TODAY, 3/6).
