Media Notes

The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Joe Flint cites sources as saying that former NBC Entertainment Chair Robert Greenblatt is in "advanced talks" with AT&T to "take a senior role at WarnerMedia." The job "could include oversight of a new unit that would combine HBO and Turner entertainment networks and an upcoming streaming service." If Greenblatt were to join WarnerMedia in such a role, it "would call into question the future of several high-ranking executives" such as HBO CEO Richard Plepler and Turner President David Levy (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 2/28).

SIGHTSEEING: Fox unveiled its '19 FIFA Women's World Cup studio site in Paris at a "terrace cafe at the Musée de l’Homme, an anthropology museum right across the Seine River from the Eiffel Tower." The studio will be "built so that you’ll see that famous landmark behind the main set." Fox "hasn’t said yet whether fans will be able to visit the studio site as they did in downtown Vancouver four years ago" (PHILLY.com, 2/27).

GLOBAL STRATEGY: The NBA has several employees dedicated to TikTok, posting "five to six videos per day" to the NBA's 3.8 million fans on the Chinese media app. During All-Star Weekend, the NBA "garnered more than 44 million views on its TikTok videos." More than 3,000 TikTok users "submitted their talents to the brand’s hashtag challenge." Posts of Stephen Curry dunking "received 82,000 likes." NBA VP/Emerging Media Bob Carney said that the league had "already been the most popular brand on Musical.ly," which rebranded to TikTok in August (DIGIDAY.com, 2/28).
