Pistons Attendance Dropping In Year Two At Little Caesars Arena

The Pistons are averaging 1,698 fewer fans per game at Little Caesars Arena this seasonNBAE/getty images

The Pistons are "pacing behind" last year in attendance so far in their second season at Little Caesars Arena, according to Bill Shea of CRAIN'S DETROIT BUSINESS. The Pistons this season are "averaging 15,715 fans per game after 30 home games, which ranks 25th" in the NBA. For the entire '17-18 season, the Pistons "averaged 17,413 fans per game," which "ranked 19th in the league." The year-over-year difference is 1,698 "fewer fans per game so far this season." That measures out to "almost 70,000 total fewer fans for this season if the pace holds up." There are "not a lot of major draws left on the schedule to boost attendance" -- the Lakers pay a visit on March 15 -- so the "only real way to boost the gate average is probably a run at a playoff berth." Blake Griffin has "returned to form as one of the NBA's elite forwards, but that doesn't appear to be enough of a draw" (CRAINSDETROIT.com, 2/19).
