NBPA Shuffles Exec Committee, With Warriors' Iguodala Named First VP

Iguodala replaces LeBron James, after having served on the Exec Committee since '13nbae/getty images

The NBPA named Warriors F Andre Iguodala First VP, after serving as a VP on the union's Exec Committee since February '13. Iguodala replaces LeBron James, whose 4-year term has expired. Bucks G Malcolm Brogdon, Celtics F Jaylen Brown and Hornets C Bismack Biyombo were all elected to serve as VPs on the Exec Committee. They will begin their 3-year terms immediately, replacing Carmelo Anthony, Stephen Curry and Iguodala (NBPA). In Massachusetts, Tom Westerholm wrote the new group of players "could make for an interesting dynamic" in CBA negotiations. Previously, the NBA was "represented by superstars, and superstars got some nice perks in the collective bargaining stage." The new group is "much more eclectic -- a veteran role player in Iguodala who used to be a star, a couple of rising prospects in Brown and Brogdon, and a bench big man in Biyombo." Brown, who is "very thoughtful," has said before that becoming the president of the players' union is "one of his career goals." He is "certainly on track" (MASSLIVE.com, 2/18).
