Jordan Brand Has Big Plans For Charlotte's All-Star Weekend

Jordan Brand is taking ownership of the All-Star uniforms for the second year in a rowFANATICS

Jordan Brand is "tipping off an experience unlike anything the league has seen" for All-Star weekend through a "series of community workshops, events and sneaker launches," according to Nick DePaula of ESPN.com. The brand's slogan for the weekend is "Own the Game." Michael Jordan's brand, through a "handful of limited-edition launches" this weekend, will "closely follow his journey through the game." The "most anticipated release honors the sneakers" Jordan wore during the '91 All-Star Game, which was Charlotte's first All-Star Game. Jordan Brand also "tapped regional sneaker boutique Social Status for a limited collaboration edition of their own." Social Status will be "hosting a series of design workshops throughout the week for kids, helping to lend some guidance on the insights and storytelling that have carried the brand for all these years." Beyond the shoes, Jordan Brand will be "taking ownership of the All-Star uniforms" for the second year in a row, "designing them atop white and black base colors, with oversized team logos featured across the chest." While they bear a "strong resemblance" to the uniforms used in L.A. for last year's All-Star Game, this year's versions "include some callbacks to the ones worn" in the '91 game in Charlotte, particularly with the red, white and blue piping (ESPN.com, 2/14).
