ESPN Reportedly Fires Adnan Virk For Leaking Company Info

ESPN President Jimmy Pitaro was reportedly the final decision-maker on the moveGETTY IMAGES

ESPN anchor Adnan Virk "has been fired by the network" after being accused of "leaking confidential company information to the media on multiple occasions," according to sources cited by Andrew Marchand of the N.Y. POST. ESPN yesterday confirmed Virk no longer worked at the company after he was "escorted off the Bristol campus" on Friday. The net felt Virk "failed to fully cooperate" when it investigated the claims. The content of what Virk shared is "unknown at this time." He "recently signed a new multi-year contract" and had been a main studio host for college football, college basketball and MLB coverage (NYPOST.com, 2/3). THE ATHLETIC's Richard Deitsch cites sources as saying that the move to fire Virk "reached the top of the ESPN management team," meaning ESPN President Jimmy Pitaro "was the final arbiter." It is unclear whether a suspension was considered (THEATHLETIC.com, 2/4).
