NASCAR's Steve Herbst Leaving After Seven-Year Run

NASCAR Senior VP/Broadcasting & Production STEVE HERBST is leaving the sanctioning body after a more than seven-year run that saw him help strike the largest TV deal in the sport’s history. Alongside NASCAR Chair & CEO BRIAN FRANCE, who is on leave, Herbst was the architect of the 10-year, $8.2B media-rights deals with Fox and NBC that lasts through ’24. Herbst, whose last day is Friday, is leaving as part of NASCAR's recent layoffs that affected 50-75 jobs. Herbst in a statement said, “My years at NASCAR have been incredibly rewarding and I believe it’s the perfect time to pursue new challenges and opportunities. I could not be prouder of our collective accomplishments and I believe the sport is well positioned for future success and growth. This is a truly extraordinary and unique time in the rapidly evolving media rights and distribution business, and I look forward to the new opportunities ahead of me.” NASCAR Exec VP & CMO JILL GREGORY will now oversee media, with VP/Global Media Strategy & Distribution BRIAN HERBST also playing a major role. Steve Herbst and Brian Herbst are not related.
