Atlanta's High Museum of Art until Sunday is displaying the exhibit “WITH DRAWN ARMS: GLENN KAINO AND TOMMIE SMITH,” a multimedia installation that "examines Smith’s journey, from gold medal winning athlete, to pariah, to role model." Kaino, an L.A.-based conceptual artist, "created the exhibit during the course of assembling a documentary film on Smith," who is a resident of Stone Mountain, Ga. The show includes an "excerpt from the film, which is still incomplete." It also includes an "outdoor sculpture" that is a "silhouette of Smith, with arm raised, cut out of a mirrored material" (AJC.com, 1/31).

NAMES: The U.S. Tax Court on Thursday ruled that Alabama football coach NICK SABAN will get to "claim a bad-debt deduction that the government tried to deny." The deduction "stems from a real-estate investment" Saban made in Baton Rouge. Saban, formerly the coach at LSU, loaned the developer, JOSEPH SPINOSA, $2M in '06, for the "construction of a shopping center and office complex," but the project "ran into financial trouble" (WSJ.com, 1/31)....Cubs co-Owner LAURA RICKETTS, a "prominent Democratic fundraiser," endorsed Chicago mayoral candidate SUSAN MENDOZA and agreed to co-chair Mendoza's campaign. The endorsement comes just days after her brother, Cubs Chair TOM RICKETTS, "donated $25,000 to BILL DALEY's campaign" (SUNTIMES.com, 1/31)....Amazon ordered a new documentary series about Real Madrid D SERGIO RAMOS. The half-hour series "will run to 8 installments showing the daily life of the sports star." The as-yet-untitled Ramos series will "bow on Amazon Prime Video later this year" (VARIETY.com, 1/30)....DONALD TRUMP JR. made two phone calls "before and after his meeting with Russian operatives at Trump Tower" during the '16 presidential campaign, one of which was to NASCAR's BRIAN FRANCE (NYPOST.com, 1/31)....DEREK JETER and his wife HANNAH announced the birth of their second daughter, STORY GREY (NYPOST.com, 1/31).
