TCF Bank's name has been on Minnesota's football stadium since it opened in '09GETTY IMAGES

The TCF Bank name will "remain atop the University of Minnesota's football stadium" after the bank's parent company, TCF Financial Corp., was acquired by Michigan-based Chemical Financial Corp. The Minneapolis-based bank indicated that there is "no change in its long-term naming-rights contract" that went into place in '05 ahead of the venue's '09 opening (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 1/29). Meanwhile, Chemical Bank will "continue as the sponsor" of the Detroit Free Press Marathon this October, and it likely will be branded "under that brand and not under the TCF Bank brand" (CRAINSDETROIT.com, 1/31).

PICK-UP STICKS: Stars C Jason Spezza "debuted a new stick" during Wednesday's game against the Sabres, as he traded in his "old Bauer with yellow trim for a Warrior model with orange accents on the casing." Spezza said that he has "never signed with a stick company to solely use its product because he likes the freedom to switch his stick." Warrior becomes the fifth brand Spezza has used during his 16-year career, joining Bauer, Sherwood, Easton and Reebok (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 2/1). 

SUPER BOWL NOTES: NFL sponsor Pizza Hut will give "free pizza for a year" to the parents of the "first baby born during Super Bowl LIII." The family also will get two tickets to Super Bowl LIV next year in Miami (BOSTON HERALD, 2/1)....Hardee's will give all customers at participating QSR locations next Friday a free sausage biscuit if an interception is returned for a touchdown in Sunday's game (Hardee's).
