Events DC To Be Main Sponsor Of OWL's Washington Justice

Events DC's sponsorship deal with the Washington Justice is valued at $750,000 for FY '19events dc

Events DC will be the "signature sponsor" for the inaugural season of the Overwatch League's Washington Justice, serving as the "exclusive jersey patch sponsor," according to Katishi Maake of the WASHINGTON BUSINESS JOURNAL. The deal is valued at $750,000 for FY '19. Events DC declared the initial sponsorship offer from Mark Ein's Washington Esports Ventures was "too large for the agency, but negotiated a pared-down agreement" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 1/24). DOT ESPORTS' Nicole Carpenter noted the deal with Events DC "will also help create a connection" between the Justice and its home city. The OWL once again will be based in L.A. when the '19 season begins next month, but it is "expected to switch to a city-based structure in the future." Events DC will "put on live watch parties for local fans" during Justice matches, as building a fan base in DC "will be crucial to the team's success when the Overwatch League switches" its structure. The group also is "expected to create city-based content throughout the 2019 season" (DOTESPORTS.com, 1/24).
