Nets Starting To Attract More Fans With Successful Run At Home

The Nets have averaged 14,889 fans over the last 11 home games compared to 13,813 for the first 13NBAE/GETTY IMAGES

The Nets are 10-1 in their last 11 games at Barclays Center, and that run of success as resulted in attendance being "bumped up," according to Greg Joyce of the N.Y. POST. The team has averaged 14,889 fans during that stretch, compared to an average draw of 13,813 for the "first 13 games at home this season -- in which they went just 3-10." The Nets "still rank last in attendance across the NBA this season," but fans now seems to be "coming to see them, not their opponents." Nets C Jarrett Allen said the home crowd is "growing day by day" (N.Y. POST, 1/23). Meanwhile, on Long Island, Barbara Baker notes the Nets are "one of the hottest teams in the league," having gone 17-5 over their last 22 games. Both the Nets and Knicks are heading toward an "offseason that will be pivotal to the rebuild of both teams." Baker: "It is becoming apparent that when it comes to attracting a top free agent, Madison Square Garden is the only edge the Knicks have over the Nets." The Knicks have a "great building, but the Nets have a great foundation, one that could make them a team worth watching -- and playing for -- for years to come" (NEWSDAY, 1/23).
