Univ. Of Louisville To Cut Prices For Men's Hoops Season Tickets In '19-20

Next year will be the first time season tickets at KFC Yum! Center will vary based on seat locationGETTY IMAGES

The Univ. of Louisville is "chopping men's basketball season ticket prices" for '19-20 amid "declining average attendance and complaints about 'exorbitant' costs," according to Danielle Lerner of the Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL. The planned price cuts "could save" fans up to 44% next season. UL Senior Associate AD/SID Kenny Klein said that next year will mark the first time since KFC Yum! Center opened in '10 that season tickets "will vary based on seat location." The recent inflation of UL's ticket prices, "due in part to a facility fee imposed to cover the cost of arena lease concessions, prompted grumbles of discontent from fans" (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 1/20). For mid-court packages in the arena's upper bowl, the "average per-game cost will drop to $41.21" for '19-20 from $49.15 this season. The average per-game cost "will drop to $28.68 for 'corner/endzone' seats, which also cost an average of $49.15 currently." UL AD Vince Tyra said that the move is meant to "boost season ticket sales, which are down 'a couple thousand' packages this season from last year" (WDRB.com, 1/18).
