NWSL Working To Renew Broadcast Deal With A&E Networks

Duffy said that the league's partnership with A&E hasn't hindered it from seeking other broadcast dealsgetty images

The NWSL's broadcast contract with A&E Networks is entering its final season, but league President Amanda Duffy "is in talks to renew the partnership," according to Jordan Culver of PRO SOCCER USA. A&E Networks, an "equity partner of the NWSL," includes Lifetime, which broadcasts the league's Game of the Week. Duffy said, "We've really enjoyed working with Lifetime, and they've positioned us to be in a good place as we are entering into those conversations about what our future broadcast situation looks like." Culver noted ESPNews last season "took over" six Lifetime broadcasts "during the second half of last season." Duffy said that the league's partnership with A&E "hasn't hindered it from seeking other broadcast deals." She added that games this season will be "streamed on Yahoo! Sports after Verizon's go90 platform was shut down midway through last season." Duffy said that more details "will be released when the 2019 schedule is unveiled" (PROSOCCERUSA.com, 1/17).
