Arkansas State's Mohajir First Group Of 5 AD On CFP Selection Committee

Arkansas State AD Terry Mohajir "will join" the CFP selection committee this spring, becoming the first Group of 5 AD to be "added to the 13-member panel," according to Christian Boutwell of the ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE. Mohajir and the other two new members, College Football HOFer R.C. Slocum and former U.S. Army Chief of Staff Ray Odierno, will "serve three-year terms." Outgoing committee members Jeff Bower, Herb Deromedi and Bobby Johnson will "see their terms expire in February." Mohajir will become the sixth AD on the committee -- one from "each of the Power 5 conferences and himself." Sun Belt Commissioner Karl Benson said, "He's not a representative of the Group of 5. He's not a representative of the Sun Belt. He's an individual that when he goes into the room, he's Terry Mohajir, football expert" (ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE, 1/17). YAHOO SPORTS' Nick Bromberg noted Oregon AD Rob Mullens, who serves as the CFP Selection Committee Chair, will "stay on for another year." Mullens was "set to depart the committee in February," but will instead reprise his role for '19. Mullens is "currently tasked with defending the selection committee's weekly choices on ESPN" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 1/16).
