In K.C., Pete Grathoff notes Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes as part of his endorsement deal with Hunt’s stars in a new commercial that "shows Mahomes signing autographs for kids with ketchup bottles." He "skips over one because it’s the wrong brand," and as the "dejected boy walks away, Mahomes says, 'Hey kid' and tosses a bottle of ketchup to him." It was "similar to the iconic 1970s Coca-Cola commercial featuring" Pro Football HOFer "Mean" Joe Greene, who "tossed his jersey to a boy" (K.C. STAR, 1/16).

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK: In Cleveland, Kevin Kleps noted a sweatshirt worn by new Browns coach Freddie Kitchens "became a sideline staple" with him this past season, and now the sweatshirt's supply "has been exhausted." The Nike version of the "orange 'DAWG POUND' hoodie was part of the company's official on-field attire" for the '18 NFL season. The Browns said that the gear "generally is made available for that specific season." But Kitchens' promotion from offensive coordinator to coach "could change some things, since it's renewed interest in his favorite sweatshirt." But any more production of the item will be "up to" Nike (CRAINSCLEVELAND.com, 1/15).

SAY "CHEESE": In DC, Scott Allen noted Capitals RW Devante Smith-Pelly and LW Andre Burakovsky star in a "recently released commercial" for Northern Virginia-based pizza chain Paisano’s. It is the "first all-Caps commercial" ESB Advertising, Springfield, Va., proving that "winning a Stanley Cup has its perks" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 1/14).
