In Miami, Barry Jackson cited a source as saying FIU has "decided that its Nov. 23 football game" against the Univ. of Miami will be "played at Marlins Park." Though the game is scheduled as an FIU "home game as the second part of a home and home series, the contract with UM said it could not be played at FIU" because Riccardo Silva Stadium is "too small." FIU then had a "choice of Marlins Park or Hard Rock Stadium and FIU chose Marlins Park" (MIAMI HERALD, 1/15).

BABA O'FENWAY: In Boston, Kevin Slane noted The Who will "play a concert at Fenway on Friday, Sept. 13." The Who is the "third big act that has announced a Fenway date in the last seven days." Phish will "play two shows at Fenway on July 5 and 6, and singer-songwriter Billy Joel will return to Fenway for a sixth time on Sept. 14" (BOSTONGLOBE.com, 1/14).

NEW ROOST: In Birmingham, Creg Stephenson noted the Univ. of South Carolina is putting the "finishing touches" on its new $50M football HQ. The 110,000-square foot Long Family Football Operations Center includes a 33,000-square foot weight room, locker rooms and training facilities, "as well as a barbershop, game room and a recording studio" (AL.com, 1/14).
