Chips & Putts: RBC Adds Webb Simpson, Others To Golf Roster

RBC's logo will be on Simpson's sleeve and will have prominent placement on the front of his golf bag GETTY IMAGES

TSN.ca's Bob Weeks reported Webb Simpson headlines a group of five players that have joined RBC's "roster of professional golfers." He is joined by Canadian players Corey Conners, Roger Sloan, Ben Silverman and Brittany Marchand, and they all will "carry the company's logo on their apparel and golf bags." The addition of the four Canadians is "part of a move by RBC to assist all Canadians who make it to the LPGA or PGA Tour." Current RBC endorsers on the two tours include Dustin Johnson, Jim Furyk, Brandt Snedeker and Brooke Henderson (TSN.ca, 1/9).

THE DUDE ABIDES: Jason Dufner has signed a deal with men's personal care brand Dude, which "proudly touts" a product called Dude Wipes. GOLFCHANNEL.com's Jason Crook noted Dufner was the "most talked about non-sponsor of 2018, opting to play the year without a specific branding on his hat" (GOLFCHANNEL.com, 1/9). GOLF DIGEST's Alex Myers noted Dufner is not the "first athlete to be sponsored" by Dude, as the company previously worked with NASCAR driver Matt DiBenedetto and Jets RB Isaiah Crowell. Myers: "We'll miss the 'BOSS' and American flag hats, but DUDE works for Duf" (GOLFDIGEST.com, 1/9). Dude's logo will be on Dufner's left sleeve for the entire PGA Tour season and on his cap for select events (THE DAILY).

NOTES: Stewart Cink has "signed a multiyear deal" with Ping after using the company's driver last season "without a contract." Terms were not disclosed, but he will "play a minimum of 11 Ping clubs" (GOLF.com, 1/9)....Retirement service provider Empower Retirement has signed a deal with Brendan Steele. He joins Simpson and Robert Streb on the company's golfer roster (Empower)....Hemp oil product producer Functional Remedies has signed PGA Tour Champions player Scott McCarron (Functional Remedies).
