The AP's Aron Heller notes Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT has been awarded Israel’s '19 Genesis Prize in "recognition of his philanthropy and commitment to combatting anti-Semitism." The $1M award, "widely known as the 'Jewish Nobel' prize, is granted each year to a person recognized as an inspiration to the next generation of Jews through professional achievement and commitment to Jewish values." Kraft has been an "outspoken supporter of Israel and has arranged trips" for Pro Football HOFers to go there. His prize money will be "donated to initiatives combatting anti-Semitism, other forms of prejudices and what some portray as attempts to delegitimize Israel." Israel Prime Minister BENJAMIN NETANYAHU is "expected to present Kraft the award in Jerusalem in June" (AP, 1/9).
STEPPING INTO THE RING: In Jacksonville, Phillip Heilman notes Jaguars Owner SHAD KHAN and his son, TONY, are "unveiling a new professional wrestling organization named All Elite Wrestling." Shad Khan will be AEW’s "lead investor." Tony Khan will "hold a leadership role." It is "unclear exactly how much Shad Khan will invest in the project." Shad Khan said his involvement with AEW "will not deter attention or divert resources from any of my businesses, teams, projects or investments." Tony Khan is also "expected to maintain his roles" with the Jaguars and EPL club Fulham (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 1/9).
ANCHORS AWEIGH: In Ft. Worth, Stefan Stevenson noted Cowboys Owner JERRY JONES "bought himself a super yacht." The $250M yacht is 360 feet long and includes, "among other luxurious accoutrements, a helipad." It is named "Bravo Eugenia," after Jones’ wife, GENE. The Jones family "took ownership of the yacht on Dec. 20 before a Christmas cruise in Scandinavia." The Dutch shipyard Oceanco "built the fuel efficient and eco friendly vessel." It includes a "storage area for water toys, a space with a sauna, steam room, massage room, plunge pool and rain shower, a lower-deck gym and a beach club" (STAR-TELEGRAM.com, 1/8).
