Philly Businesses Taking Advantage Of Eagles' "Double Doink" Hysteria

Billboards touting pro-Eagles messages are currently in 30 locations across the Philadelphia areaCBS PHILLY

Philadelphia-area businesses have "wasted no time in marketing" the missed field goal attempt by Bears K Cody Parkey on Sunday that hit both the upright and crossbar and allowed the Eagles to advance in the NFL playoffs, according to Patricia Madej of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. The "double doink" phrase, first uttered by NBC's Cris Collinsworth, is "plastered on T-shirts, as a promo code, and even in Philly’s skyline." There are "'double doink' T-shirts and sweatshirts, ranging from $16.99 to $39.99, already available on Amazon." For Philadelphia-based Rush Order Tees, Eagles fans are "keeping the company busy by sending over custom 'double doink' designs" (PHILLY.com, 1/9). In DC, Jacob Bogage noted billboard company Lamar Advertising GM Dave Peacock for the second straight year is "beaming pro-Eagles messages on 20-foot by 60-foot billboards in 30 locations across the Philadelphia area." After the Eagles' win, Lamar’s design team "drew up a billboard ready to hit signs first thing Monday morning." The billboard reads “Double-Doink!” above “#FlyEaglesFly.” Peacock said that there are "plans are in the works for signs to celebrate each succeeding Eagles victory." With the team set to play the Saints in the divisional round Sunday, there are "billboards around the city that read, 'The only saint that matters: St. Nick,' and 'Who Dat? St. Nick, that’s who'" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 1/8).
