NFL Attendance Lowest Since '10 Despite Chargers Rebound

The Rams were up 14.3%, benefiting from hosting the Chiefs in L.A. instead of Mexico City

NFL teams averaged 67,100 fans at home during the '18 regular season, the league's lowest figure since '10. This season is down 0.5% from '17. The Cowboys led all teams at the gate for the 10th straight season, dating back to when AT&T Stadium opened in '09, but that was down 1.2% from the venue-record 92,722 last season. Both L.A. teams saw significant increases, with the Chargers up a league-best 29.3%, due in part to a designated home game in London. The team saw a 56% drop last season as it moved from San Diego to Dignity Health Sports Park Center in Carson, Calif. Meanwhile, the Rams were up 14.3% and were beneficiaries of the Week 11 game that was slated for Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, but eventually moved to L.A. due to field turf concerns. That Monday night matchup against the Chiefs ended up being the Rams' largest crowd of the season with 77,002 at L.A. Memorial Coliseum. The Redskins had the league’s biggest drop in average attendance, down 18.8%. The league also hosted three games in London this season compared to four last year.
