Media Notes

In Michigan, Andrew Kahn noted George Blaha, who handles play-by-play for the Pistons on FS Detroit and serves the same role on radio for Michigan State football, is "traveling to Santa Clara" for Monday's Oregon-MSU Redbox Bowl. Blaha will "miss the Pistons' next four games," and FS Detroit's Matt Shepard will "fill in for Blaha." Michigan basketball team will "likely need to replace Shepard" on radio for Saturday's game against Binghamton (MLIVE.com, 12/26).

ICONIC VOICE: THE ATHLETIC's Paul Tenorio profiled DC United play-by-play man Dave Johnson, who is one of the "few local broadcasters who has covered MLS since its inaugural season" in '96. Johnson has "memorialized United's goals" with his signature phrase, "It's in the net!" He is also "very active across different sports" in the DC area both on radio and TV, including "serving as the radio play-by-play voice" of the Wizards (THEATHLETIC.com, 12/27).
