Adidas, Donovan Mitchell Unveil NBAer's First Signature Shoe

Mitchell has been wearing the shoes for the last two weeks in private workoutsadidas

Adidas "released a preview" of Jazz G Donovan Mitchell's first signature shoe on Thursday, with a "Spiderman-influenced theme and name," according to Andy Larsen of the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE. The shoes, "dubbed the 'D.O.N. Issue #1' -- like a comic book -- don't yet have a release date." The D.O.N. name "stands for 'Determination Over Negativity,'" and the shoes are a "mix of blue and red, with white webbing in strategic locations to further drive the Spiderman theme home." Mitchell has been "wearing the shoes for the last two weeks in private workouts." He said that he will "start wearing them on the court" in February or March, though he added that he "isn't sure of an exact date yet." Mitchell said that he "worked very closely with Adidas" on making the shoes, to the point where he was "surprised about the level of input they asked for from him." He said, "All I really care about is the color, the fit, where certain things are, and the logos." Mitchell added that the shoes will be "affordable," though Adidas has not announced a price yet. Larsen noted Mitchell is the first Jazz player to "have a signature shoe." About 20 NBAers "have signature shoes from one company or another" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 12/28). ESPN.com's Nick DePaula noted the shoes are "expected to be priced under $100." The D.O.N. name also is a "play on the first three letters of Mitchell's first name" (ESPN.com, 12/27). Mitchell arrived at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Thursday night with the new shoes in hand and wore them as he warmed up before the game (THE DAILY).
