Overnight Ratings: ESPN Lower For Saturday Bowl Games; PBC Up

ESPN had three college football games on Saturday -- the Jared Birmingham Bowl, Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl and SoFi Hawaii Bowl -- and all three saw big drops in overnight ratings. Wake Forest-Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl on Saturday afternoon led the way with a 1.7 overnight, but that was down from a 2.2 for USF-Texas Tech in the same window last year. Army’s rout of Houston in the Armed Forces Bowl in the late afternoon window drew a 1.6, down from a 2.2 for Army-San Diego State last year (same window). In the late night window (10:30pm ET), Louisiana Tech-Hawaii drew a 0.7, down from a 1.0 for Appalachian State-Toledo in the Dollar General Bowl in the same window last year. Meanwhile, on Saturday night, Fox drew a 1.5 overnight for its Premier Boxing Champions card, marking the net’s best PBC telecast since January ’16.

The chart below lists overnight ratings from Christmas weekend sports telecasts on broadcast TV.
