Weekend Plans With Adidas Golf President Jeff Lienhart

Lienhart joined Adidas back in '14 after stints at both Nike and Louisville SluggerADIDAS

Adidas Golf President JEFF LIENHART has spent the week wrapping up year-end items for the apparel giant before his West Coast home opens its doors to extended family and friends for the Christmas holiday. Lienhart: "We're really just putting a bow on things. It can be stressful but fortunately it’s been a good year for us, so it’s also a time of celebration around the offices." Lienhart took a few minutes out of his work week to take THE DAILY through his plans for the holidays and how he'll keep his large group of visitors entertained.

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGSLiving here in Carlsbad, we tend to be the destination of choice for our extended family when it comes to the holidays. My house sleeps maybe seven comfortably; we’ll have 11 here for the holidays. Not to mention the fact that I do all the cooking. I’ve been getting my meal plan ready in the days leading up to everyone's arrival. Everyone started getting in on Wednesday. I have kids coming home from college then in-laws and sister-in-laws coming throughout the week. I don’t know if we’ll get out to the course to play at all but I know that I'll be at the driving range at some point to get the sanity back in my life. My youngest son also plays lacrosse and he has a couple games this weekend, so I’ll be watching him in action and then will probably squeeze in some last minute shopping as well. I consider that a sport, too.

LIFE IN THE SUN: I’m a huge sushi fan, and Blue Ocean is my go-to spot here in Carlsbad. There’s no doubt that I’ll need to get out of the house during the holidays so I’m sure we’ll get there at some point. Hobby-wise, I’m pitching a cooking show if anyone wants to listen to me. I always enjoy throwing stuff together and cooking for a large group. Socially, I like to keep my calendar full because there’s a lot of cool things going on here in San Diego with plenty of interesting people to meet, and I'm also starting to meet interesting people through my kids now as well since they're older.

FAN ALLEGIANCES: I’m still a Chargers fan even though they should be back here. Unfortunately from a pro standpoint, I’ve moved around quite a bit my entire life. I’ve lived everywhere from Canada to Switzerland, Houston and Michigan. Michigan is probably the place I would most call home. So unfortunately that makes me a Lions and Red Wings fan. I still think MATT PATRICIA is going to start making some decisions around the team, and I look forward to him bringing some of his own guys in there to turn things around. MATTHEW STAFFORD is too good to have this many losing seasons. Let’s get CALVIN JOHNSON and BARRY SANDERS back in there. Then on the baseball side I tend to steer toward the Cubs. I lived in downtown Chicago for a little while and fell in love with them while I was there. On the college side, I’m a Mountaineer fan as I went to West Virginia. They had a big year with QB WILL GRIER but unfortunately he’s not going to be playing in our bowl game. Typically we have something to cheer about this time of year in basketball, but they haven’t quite lit a fire yet.
