Motorola Signs On As Pacers Jersey Patch Sponsor In Multiyear Deal

Motorola's jersey patch deal is likely worth less than the NBA average since Indianapolis is a smaller marketNBAE/GETTY IMAGES

The Pacers and Motorola have agreed to a multiyear jersey patch deal, and the team debuted the "Motorola logo on the left shoulder" during last night's game against the Cavaliers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, according to Akeen Glaspie of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. Motorola also becomes the "presenting sponsor of the Pacers official team app and the partnership will include in-arena, digital and social media presence along with fan engagement opportunities in the future" (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 12/19). In Indianapolis, Anthony Schoettle noted the Pacers "declined to disclose the value or length of the deal." However, a source said that the partnership is "likely worth" $8-10M "over two years." The deal is "likely a bit below the league average because Indianapolis is one of the league's smaller markets." The Pacers are the 29th NBA team to "sign a jersey sponsorship deal," making the Thunder the only team that "doesn't have" one (IBJ.com, 12/18).
