Gonzaga's Few Not Happy With Lack Of NCAA Change After FBI Report

Few said he is disappointed that the NCAA doesn't have more urgency to get to the bottom of the investigationGETTY IMAGES

Gonzaga mens' basketball coach Mark Few "doesn't see what the holdup is" with the NCAA and President Mark Emmert making changes to the organization after an FBI investigation into corruption in the sport, according to Dan Agnew of YAHOO SPORTS. Few said, "I'm disappointed. I don't think this is something the NCAA needs to take their time on. There's teams out here who are competing for Final Fours and national championships and they don't need to stall this thing out. They need to make decisions and roll with it. I think that's on Emmert. Emmert needs to step up and be a leader and make some quick decisions." Emmert said recently that he "doesn't expect any schools to be hit with major sanctions this season" following the FBI's investigation. Agnew wrote that Emmert is "making certain that this investigation will drag out for a long time." Few said, "Everybody's got a value system and you can either adhere to that value system or not and you let it become compromised. (Illegal recruiting is) just something we don't do." He added, "There's a lot of teams who do it right -- the national champions two out of the last three years. There's a lot of great things. This thing is worth saving" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 12/10). Few said that he is "disappointed that the NCAA doesn't have more urgency to get to the bottom" of the investigation into alleged pay-for-play schemes and other corruption. However, Emmert said that the investigation would not be "completed anytime soon," and any "potential penalties wouldn't be doled out until after this season, at the earliest" (ESPN.com, 12/10).
