Facility Notes

In Milwaukee, Rich Kirchen noted Johnson Controls' sponsorship with the Bucks will "extend to the outdoors with a steel globe to be erected" in early '19 at the northwest corner of Fiserv Forum. The globe is "based on the company's logo" and will "cost about $200,000." Johnson Controls Dir of Global Media Relations Fraser Engerman said that they "hope to have the globe installed and unveiled 'sometime after the new year.'" Johnson Controls signed as the "first major corporate sponsor of the new arena" in March '17 (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/5).

SWITCHING HOMES: In Boston, Marisa Ingemi noted the MLL Boston Cannons will "play their games" for the '19 season at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy, Mass. Outside of a short stint at Gillette Stadium in '15, the Cannons have "made Harvard Stadium their regular home" since '07. The team plans to "add more seating and enhance the venue to accommodate a pro lacrosse team." The arena "seats 5,000." In '18, the Cannons "averaged 3,739 spectators per game, their lowest in franchise history." As recently as '12, they "averaged 9,647 fans over their seven-home game schedule" (BOSTON HERALD, 12/5).

TIME TO CELEBRATE: In Sacramento, Noel Harris noted Sonoma Raceway is set to "honor 50 years of racing next year, as the motor sports facility hosts a slate of activity while looking back at its history." A logo which "pays tribute to the raceway’s original name, Sears Point, was introduced Tuesday to commemorate the occasion." The raceway has already "started the engine on the celebrations, marking the anniversary of the facility’s groundbreaking Aug. 14, 1968" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 12/5).
