Franchise Notes

In DC, Thom Loverro wrote Wizards Owner Ted Leonsis "needs to sell" the team, because he has "betrayed a Wizards fan base that had been victimized over and over again for decades." It has been nearly 40 years since the team has "won more than 50 games in a season" and advanced "past the second round of the NBA playoffs." Leonsis has "doubled down on one of the worst general managers in the NBA several times" by continuing to support Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld. Leonsis "needs to look in the mirror of this dysfunctional franchise" and realize that he has "failed in his public trust as an owner" (WASHINGTON TIMES, 11/23).

HOME SWEET HOME: In Philadelphia, Katie McInerney noted the 76ers sold out their first nine home games of the season, and through Wednesday were "averaging 20,330 in attendance," which edges out the Bulls and Raptors for "best average home-game attendance." Ten teams were "reporting their arenas have been at capacity for all their home games." On the road, 76ers games "aren't drawing as much attention: They're just 24th among the NBA's 30 teams in attendance" (PHILLY.com, 11/21).

SKOL, VIKINGS: In St. Paul, Charley Walters noted the Vikings' pregame fan engagement production at U.S. Bank Stadium, which "includes honoring team tradition and the sounding of a Gjallarhorn, has been named best in the NFL in a 'Voice of the Fan' league-wide survey" (TWINCITIES.com, 11/25).
