Media Notes

SPORTING NEWS' Michael McCarthy wrote Chris Haynes is "building an NBA reporting team to be reckoned with at Yahoo Sports." Source said that Haynes, Yahoo's newly hired senior NBA insider, and editor-in-chief Johnny Ludden are "finalizing a deal with up and comer Seerat Sohi of SB Nation." If Sohi "does jump to Yahoo, she's expected to cover the NBA from her native Canada" (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 11/17).

BOSS OF BEAN TOWN: In Boston, Tom Keegan writes Celtics TV analyst Tom Heinsohn "made Friday night’s Kyrie Irving masterpiece (43 points, 11 assists, spirited defense) even more memorable in the Celtics’ overtime victory" against the Raptors and "revealed himself as the personification of Celtic passion." Any "list of great Boston teams needs to include" Heinsohn (BOSTON HERALD, 11/19).

MEASURED APPROACH: In DC, Norman Chad writes in an "era of shameless shouters and play-by-play malpractitioners," Marv Albert, Al Michaels, Mike Emrick and Bob Costas "give sports viewers safe harbor when they call NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB games." Chad: "If you’re screaming at the top of your lungs from the opening minutes, you cannot find a higher note at game’s end when the most dramatic moments call for it." Albert in particular is a "wonderful example of engaging in properly channeled high energy and, with a sensible crescendo, saving the best for last" (WASHINGTON POST, 11/19).
